Karlville Development New Model SleevePro150

Karlville Development-Based in the city of Vaulx-en Velin, in France, Karlville Development is part of the Karlville Development Group, a global manufacturer of shrink sleeve converting, pouch converting, and narrow web slitting equipment, which is headquartered in Miami, Florida. Through a recent strategic acquisition policy, the Group has entered the packaging sector increasing its portfolio of packaging equipment for shrink sleeve applications, as well as tape handle  and tape bundling applications. Serving a wide customer base operating in printing and converting industry, Karlville Development is committed in engineering innovative technologies for flexible packaging applications.

Karlville Development is on stage at Emballage 2010 with an example of its latest innovations, a shrink sleeve application machine, which is fully automated with Allen Bradley products delivered by Rockwell Automation.

The machine has been conceived with a very precise purpose, as Mr. Laurent Corbet, Technical Sales Director, Karlville Development explains: "This new machine has been designed mainly for western European and South American small companies, who require reliable and flexible solutions but are very careful to find a competitive balance between efficiency and costs". In fact, the new machine fits low speed applications- it processes about 150 containers per minute-and can be used for flexible packaging, in several industries such as beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics, confisery products, etc. " Actually, we think its price is very attractive for North America and Europe", Mr. Corbet adds.

In order to combine-on the same machine-reliability and efficiency with compact functionalities at affordable costs for emerging markets, such as Western Europe ones, Karlville Development selected an electronic automation platform configuration based on the Logix Integrated Solution family from Rockwell Automation. "We decided for the Allen Bradley CompactLogix controller, with motion control capabilities, which is directly connected to Allen Bradley Kinetix 6000 servodrives, to MPL series synchronous motors driving the axes, and to I/O in rack", Mr. Corbet explains.

Thanks to this configuration, the new Karlville Development machine delivers to end-users a compact and cost effective, yet flexible and performing solution for shrink sleeve applications. The Integrated Architecture concept offered by Rockwell Automation Logix Platform gives both Karlville Development engineering team and its final customers the chance to share the same programming language for all sequential and motion control parts-relying on a unique database for PLC and HMI and on a unique connection for remote access. This integrated automation solution enables end-users choosing Karlville Development new machine to perform even basic applications-to reach te highest level of automation, drastically reducing machine downtimes.

The average supermarket shopping list usually included a product type rather than specific brands. Although, many customers enter retail outlets with a predisposition to a certain brand, many times the final decision is made in the aisle. Many factors come into play during that split second decision.
